Inflammatory Disorders

The vast majority of chronic health conditions are inflammatory in nature and very often involve an autoimmune component. Inflammation is a normal human process that serves a very useful purpose. After an acute injury like an ankle sprain or low back muscle strain, inflammation serves to protect and heal the injured tissue. This inflammatory process usually resolves within a matter of days and the injured tissue heals within weeks to months.

Chronic or sustained inflammation is a condition in which the immune system creates an unchecked supply of pro-inflammatory cells that can damage body tissues. It is now recognized that most, if not all, chronic ailments such as cardiovascular disease, migraine headache, chronic pain, and autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, Lupus, and Psoriasis are inflammatory in nature.

At Prime Health Associates, we focus on identifying, reducing, and ideally eliminating the underlying causes.

Cardiovascular Screening

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for both men and women in America. Undetected cardiovascular disease is the most significant health risk today. Although breast cancer may instill greater fear, more than ten times more women die each year from heart disease. Additionally, compared to females, men have a 17% higher lifetime risk to suffer a heart attack.

Standard cholesterol tests do not tell the whole picture in gauging an individual’s risk of cardiovascular disease. That is why Prime Health offers full cardiovascular screenings to help understand the fuller picture of what’s going on in your body.

Hormonal Balance Support

Hormonal imbalances can cause a host of serious health problems, including inflammation, metabolic syndrome, adrenal fatigue, sexual dysfunction, obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis, heart disease, hypertension, dementia, and more. While many things can cause an imbalance in our hormones, the good news is that we can often fix these imbalances without medications.

When you figure out what creates the imbalances and treat the underlying problem you find a true solution. Functional Medicine facilitates the diagnosis and treatment process, in that it identifies and treats the underlying cause(s) which creates balance and improves symptoms.

Most of us are living life completely out of balance. Unfortunately, after a time, we come to accept the symptoms of imbalance as “normal”. When things are in tune, the result is beautiful harmony. But, if any one part is out of synch, the result is disjointed and the result sounds chaotic. Hormones work in a similar fashion and can be influenced by physiological stress, disrupting the entire network.

Detoxification Processes

Each year more than 4 billion pounds of toxic chemicals are released into the environment. These toxic chemicals can accumulate in your body and affect overall health. Long-term exposure to even small amounts of these substances has been linked to a number of unwelcome health effects. Under normal circumstances, your body can rid itself of harmful chemicals and pollutants. But sometimes, the sheer volume of toxins to which you are exposed can overwhelm natural processes and accumulate in your tissues. Add to that an unhealthy diet lacking in proper nutrients, and the problem can get even worse.

Our program enhances the body’s natural metabolic detoxification process while providing adequate fuel for both cleansing and other daily activities. Getting healthier is important and so is feeling your best. Our program will show you how to do both.

Weight Loss

By taking a holistic functional medicine approach and integrating behavioral coaching with medical science, everyone can “break down the wall” to weight loss.  While our focus is on metabolic health, weight loss tends to follow.

What we do need is guidance on nutrition, meal planning, and cooking.  Or, maybe a little direction on the best type of exercise along with a plan to help ensure it happens.  Help with sleep and stress management is a subtle but imperative part of losing weight.

We work to stimulate your metabolism while giving your body important nutrition for overall health helping you to look and feel better.

This clinically designed program includes:

  • Advanced nutritional support
  • Peptide therapy when appropriate
  • Easy-to-follow instructions, menu plans, and recipes
  • High protein, phytonutrient-dense food plan with a wide range of choices
  • Simple exercise plan
  • Online support, including FAQs and helpful lifestyle tips
  • Practitioner support and counseling sessionsThe “eat less and exercise more” mantra just isn’t going to work for everyone.  I’ve seen it countless times and these patients need more than simple advice.

Diabetes Management

The complications of Diabetes are numerous and often devastating, including heart disease and stroke, high blood pressure, nerve damage (neuropathy), kidney damage, eye damage (diabetic retinopathy), foot damage (sometimes leading to toe, foot, or leg amputation), hearing impairment, skin conditions (including bacterial and fungal infections), Alzheimer’s disease, and the list goes on and on.

This is where functional medicine comes in. By applying functional medicine parameters to lab testing and doing an extensive evaluation of your overall lifestyle and health history, we can detect and sometimes even reverse issues leading to Type-2 Diabetes. If you’ve already been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, we work to find the root cause and correct it, often alleviating many, if not all, of the associated symptoms.
